For the people that know me, its probably no surprise to you that I watch EVERYTHING off the internet. I get my Television, Movies, Music Videos, etc off the vast ether of the internet. However if you have not watched anything off the internet before there are a few things that you need to do before you can enjoy the free catalogue of content. Or even if you have downloaded videos before and had problems watching the specific file, keep reading to find out how to solve your problems (well most of them).

KT Tunstall

KT TunstallLately I’ve been going through my music collection and adding ratings to all my songs. In the process I have discovered some hidden gems that I forgot I had or didn’t know I had in the first place (I download a lot of stuff… so i don’t get a chance to listen to it all sometimes). But anyway I had a listen to an artist thats been in my player for a while. Her name is KT Tunstall and after pecking through the album there were a few great songs that stood out, but one in particular caught my attention. It’s a tracked called “Blackhorse and the Cherry Tree.” Fantastic track. So I decided to google her and came across a video of her performing it live, and I like it even better now!

She is a one woman band! And i mean that literally. Loopbacks, guitars, tamborines… it was all amazing! You need to see it for yourself!

Google Video of KT Tunstall performing “Blackhorse and the Cherry Tree”

This particular song she’s very Melissa Etheridge, but a lot of her other tracks she’s more Dido with a grittier voice. Anyway check it out, let me know what you think.

Firefox logo.jpgIn an effort to get myself to post atleast one post a day, I’m going to be implimenting a new feature thats going to be my “Tip of the Day”. I haven’t quite worked out the details, but for the most part its going to be some small tip for using your computer more efficiently. Things that I generally find useful on a day to day basis. So without further ado Tip of the Day #!: Firefox Shortcuts.

Most underrated Firefox feature…

Firefox logo.jpgSo like most other well-informed websurfers, ive been using Firefox for my web browsing exclusively for about a year and half (maybe more). I’m always discovering new plugins and features. However one of my most used features is the little item called “Add Keyword for this Search”. This is in the context menu when your right click on a search box on a webpage. Its brilliant! What does it do you may ask. Well it is VERY simple, yet VERY useful and time saving. You can add quick keywords for THAT exact search box. So say, for example, you do a lot of searching on AMG (www.allmusic.com). You can right click on the search box on that page and enter a keyword. (mine for example is simply “amg”). Now whenever you feel the urge to search AMG for an artist you ctrl+L (you do use keyboard shortcuts right?!) or click in the address bar, and type “amg insert starlet here” and it will automatically take you to amg and run a search for “insert startlet here”.

Yes i know that you can actually get search plugins for the search box that will search AMG for you, however i don’t like taking the search off of Google (its just too easy to ctrl+k to automatically search google).

My own personal searches are:

AMG – Searches allmusic.com
findcover – Searches the itunes cover search at http://tpemble.urfbownd.net/itunes/itunes-search.php
imdb – Searches imdb.com

I use the amg and findcover ones the most to aide in tagging my music library. Just thought I’d pass along the tip. If anyone’s actually reading this (which i doubt) drop me a line and let me know if you use these as well, and what your favorite ones are!

Love Monkey

Tom Cavenaughlovemonkey.jpgOkay so for those of you that don’t know what Love Monkey is, it is in fact NOT an overly horny zoo animal. It’s a new show starring Tom Cavenah…. (sorry don’t know how to spell his last name), of Ed fame and if you watch Scrubs, he also played JD’s brother.

Basically the show is about Tom, an A&R rep for a record label, and his four friends (one of whom is Jason Priestley… man he’s gotten chubby). Its about music, love and relationships in New York City. So i guess you could equate it to a male version of Sex and the City, but i wouldn’t even pigeon-hole it into that realm. Love Monkey is its own beast.

I’m not really a writer so check out what they have to say over at TV Squad for a better review.

I don’t know what more to say other than, watch this show. I don’t want it to disappear into mid-season replacement limbo!

I need to start doing crack…

… because its gotta be less addictive then organizing my frakin music collection!  Where the hell did the past three hours go?!

I have been slowly picking away at my massive music collection and organizing them in iTunes with high res cover art and proper tag information that I manually lookup on AMG. Sure there are programs out there that will do most of this for me, but they don’t get the information from AMG (which is pretty much the only source that I trust implicitly) and the covers are low res.  Sure you could call me a quality snob, but hell… ive spent a lot of time amassing this collection.  It deserves the best!

Anywho…. im a geek….

Congrats Rob & Steph

Rob&StephSo I went up to Ottawa this weekend with Rachael and Jay to see our friends, Rob & Steph (henceforth referred to as R&S as its too long to type). They provided us an entire weekened of FREE partying! They held an engagement party that was sort of a meet and greet for all the people in their wedding party (im an usher btw). They rented a van and Rob came down on saturday to pick us up. (FREE) And then (in true R&S fashion) threw one amazing party (with FREE booze and fantastic food!)

Aside from Rach, Jay and R&S, i got to meet their other friends Lee and Michelle, Liz, Shaun, and Brian. They were all so much fun its amazing that we haven’t done this before! I have actually met Michelle before. Well, not really “met” per say but we have been bumping into each all around Kingston for the past few years, and each time we say “hey” (not fully realizing were either of us knows each other from, just that we should). Turns out she was in Third year when I was in second, and we rode the bus together most days on the way to school. Small freakin world isn’t it?

Anyway if you want to have a look I have captured the essence of the party on my digital camera and postd them over on my other website http://tim.blogsite.org run on over and have a look if you want!

I guess thats about it for now. I’ll try to keep this thing updated as much as humanly possible over the next little while. Ciao!
