So your hungry… you have three items in your cupboard that seemly don’t go together… what do you do? Goto Snacksby!

This food site feeds you custom recipes based on what you have in your kitchen already! At least it tries its best, or gets you really close to being able to make something edible. You can even get it to give you a shopping list if you have a couple recipes that you want to make, and are about to go shopping.

Kinda brilliant really. Give it a shot.

New Music Sunday (NMS) – Vol 1

nms-v1.jpg

As part of my plan to make regular column posts, I’ve decided to start New Music Sunday’s (NMS). I tend to spend most sunday’s just surfing the net and discovering new music, so I’m going to create a playlist and put it here for everyone’s enjoyment!

To bring you NMS, I’m using a cool new website, Imeem. That allows me to build playlists of streaming music, so all the links are going to this website (don’t worry… its not evil… its like YouTube, except they have music too).

This week’s main focus is on The Decemberists, mainly because I’ve been listening to a lot of them over the past week so I’ve bookended this week’s playlist with two Decemberist tracks. These aren’t necessarily new however it’s a couple of my favorite tracks from them. And I’ve thrown in a track by Colin Meloy (The Decemberists’ lead singer) off his acoustic EP “Colin Meloy Sings Morissey”.

Oh and let me know in the comments if there’s anything I should check out and include in next week’s edition.

Click here to check out New Music Sunday – Vol 1

This weeks playlist:

  1. 16 Military Wives by The Decemberists (The Crane Wife)
  2. Dying Breed by Melissa Nadler (Songs III: Bird on the Water)
  3. 23 by Blonde Redhead (23)
  4. Hunting for Witches by Bloc Pary (A Weekend in the City)
  5. Jack the Ripper by Colin Meloy (Colin Meloy Sings Morissey EP)
  6. Bushels by Frog Eyes (Tears of the Valedictorian)
  7. Freedom by Amos Lee (Supply and Demand)
  8. Keep the Car Running by Arcade Fire (Neon Bible)
  9. The Mariners Revenge Song by The Decemberists (Picaresque)

Hey everyone. So I kind of deserted my blog for the last five months or so. But I’m hoping to get back to updating it again. I’m hoping to add a few new regular posts that will hopefully keep everyone coming back… if not… oh well… i don’t really care :) I’m just doing this to pass the time, and hopefully give people something interesting to read/listen too while their bored.

Cheers

Google Suggest must Die!
August 22, 2006, 2:42 pm
Filed under: Google, Personal, Rant, Technology

Alright, this is a little bit of a rant post. Just recently Google (in their infinate wisdom) decided to add their Google Suggest feature to every search box on their main google site. This didn’t sound like a bad idea to me, until I started using the search fields on the website (as opposed to my searchbox in Firefox). Google Suggest does not JUST suggest something for you…. it FORCES you to use their suggestions as you type! For example… i was trying to use their built in conversion calculator and by typing “3MBps to Kbps” it felt that the capitals were not needed and changed it to “3mbps to kbps”, which is COMPLETELY different (and in fact didn’t work). This is completely unacceptable behavior Google! You don’t even provide a check box in your preferences to turn it off!

So I’m going to throw this out to the internet in the hopes that SOMEONE out there knows how to turn this abomination OFF! If you do PLEASE let me know in the comments.

Thank you and good night :)

Free AntiVirus : Protection doesn’t have to cost anything

There are so many people out there who do one of the following with their computer:

1) Go out and spend $50+ on a packaged version of antivirus (normally Norton or McAffee)
2) Go without anti-virus because they can’t be bothered to pay $50+ on security
OR
3) Just too damn lazy to install an anti-virus

For people in catagory 3 get off your lazy asses! And for the people in the first two catagories, listen up because i have some good news! You DON’T have to spend money on anti-virus. You can get anti-virus for FREE. It’s even GOOD anti-virus. Some may argue that its BETTER anti-virus than the packages you spend $50+ dollars on! So I am here to enlighten the masses (or at the very least the 3 people that actually read this blog) to a couple options for FREE anti-virus.
